KFC releases scented candle for people who want their home to smell of fried chicken
(USA Today) Forget vanilla bean and apple spice, KFC may be bursting into the novelty candle game with its own Kentucky Fried fragrance.
Last week, KFC New Zealand held a Facebook drawing in which the lucky winners got a KFC scented candle. The company didn’t specify what the candle smells like, but the name suggests the colonel’s original recipe.
“What better way to light up your nights than with a limited edition KFC Scented Candle! Keen?” the company’s Facebook asked. Later in the day, the company tweeted only one more tummy rumbler remained.
It’s not the first time an inedible fried chicken aroma has entered the market. In August, KFC sold 3,000 tubes of fried chicken-scented sunscreen in just two hours. The website Kentucky for Kentucky offered a fried chicken candle in 2013 for $22 a pop. They sold 25 in less than a minute.
People in the United States, however, shouldn’t plan on getting their hands on the candles this holiday season. KFC spokeswoman Lori Eberenz said, “there are no plans to offer the candle in the U.S. at this time.”
However, if Cheetos are your thing, you’re in luck. The company has unveiled its holiday collection, which includes a diamond set, a bronzer and a perfume.
