Berbice man arrested for raping girlfriend

The Police in ‘B’ Division have arrested a Rosignol, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B) fisherman who is accused of raping his teenage girlfriend at his home on Tuesday, November 06, 2016.

News Room was told that at about 15:00 hours on Tuesday, the 19-year-old victim who shares an intimate relationship with the suspect had a heated argument at the suspect’s home.

According to a police source, the victim is claiming that following the misunderstanding, the suspect forced her to have sex with him.

The teen called the police who visited the scene and arrested the suspect while the victim was taken to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital for a medical examination.

The suspect is presently in custody at the Fort Wellington Police Station pending charges.
