11-year-old killed in accident

An 11-year-old pedestrian on Thursday afternoon lost his life on the No.46 village public road, Corentyne after he was struck by a speeding motor car.

Police reports stated that at about 15:30 hrs, Simon Kendell, of No. 46 village, Corentyne, was walking along the eastern driveway of the road when he was struck by Motor car P VV 7617 which was also proceeding in the same direction.

Enquiries disclosed that the driver of the Motor car lost control of the vehicle and struck down the pedestrian.

As a result of the impact, Kendall who was flung to the western side of the road was picked up in a semi-conscious condition and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he later succumbed.

The driver, 21yrs of the said No.46 Village, who fled the scene after the accident, was apprehended and is assisting with the investigation.

A breathalyser test was conducted and no blood alcohol was recorded in his breath.
