A former policeman was last evening picked up by the police in ‘A’ Division for questioning in relation to the murder of Wilfred Stewart back in 2014.
According to information reaching the News Room, the police received information that the ex- policeman was in the vicinity of Merriman’s Mall when a party of policemen swooped down on the location and arrested the suspect.
The ex-policeman’s name was called during the initial investigations into the matter, but the police were unable to nab the man.
Already, three persons are before the courts for the murder, one of whom perished during the Prison unrest in 2015 while the other two persons were said to be ex-policemen also.
Wilfred Stewart was murdered at Sterling Products head office back in 2014 when gunmen invaded the premises and attempted to rob the establishment on the East Bank of Demerara.
The men on their way out of the premises shot Stewart and made off with his weapon.
