The issue of domestic violence will be fought collectively by four Ministries after inking an agreement to operationalize a task force to deal with the matter. The ministries are Social Protection, Public health, Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs and the Public Security Ministry.
According to Social Protection Minister Volda Lawrence, the move by the Ministries is another way to ensuring that domestic violence is eradicated.
For the Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Minister, more education is needed for those in the hinterland as it relates to domestic violence and where to seek help.
He said the task force can give justice to victims of domestic violence especially those in the hinterland.
Public Health Minister Dr. George Norton believes the initiative will help medical practitioners better understand the issues surrounding domestic violence and their roles in the fight against it.
