Six arrested after gun/ ammo find

The police on Wednesday evening took six men into custody following the discovery of a gun and one live round.

The News Room was told that late on Wednesday Evening a police patrol was performing duties in the vicinity of Pine Apple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, when they observed the six men standing in the corner next to a car. The police decided to carry out a search on their person.

The police decided to carry out a search on their person, following which nothing was found. However, it was after the police decided to search the immediate surrounding, .32 pistol and one round was found hidden under a piece if wood.

The men all denied having any knowledge of the presence of the weapon.

They were promptly taken into custody and the police ate investigating the matter.

The hands of the six men are expected to be dusted for gun powder residue.

On Tuesday night, a 27-year-old man was murdered and his sister robbed at North/East La Penitence. According to the family, the robbery and murder were committed by the occupants of a waiting car at the corner of the street.
