Police are pursuing every possible lead to apprehend two male suspects who committed a daring robbery on two men at Plaisance, E.C.D , about 15:30 hrs today, shooting one of the victims in both legs.

Businessman, Kenneth Earl of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D) was about to enter his yard when the incident took place.

Police sources indicated to the News Room that the man who is contracted by Qualfon Call Centre to provide transportation for workers went to the bank and made a withdrawal of $4M.

It is reported that the man stopped at the junction at Plaisance and split the money with another individual, giving that person $2M which was to be paid to the several minibus operators who signed a contract with the Qualfon Call Centre to take home its staff.

According to sources, the payment is usually done via cheque, however failure to get the cheque led to the withdrawal.

As Earl attempted to enter his yard the bandits pounced and began discharging rounds in his direction. The other person who he had earlier split the money with attempted to jump a fence in a bid to escape and he dropped the bag with the other $2M.

The bandits then picked up the money and fled the scene in a white car.

Earle was rushed to the  G.P.H.C where he was treated and admitted in a stable condition. Investigators have retrieved several spent shells from the scene.
