Chanderpaul (141*) hands Jaguars huge lead
Bowlers continue to be frustrated by the sight of Shivnarine Chanderpaul in this year’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League Digicel Four-day tournament.
On Saturday, it was the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force bowlers to suffer at the hands of the oldest active First-Class cricketer in the Caribbean.
The 42-year-old left-hander, appearing in his 355th First-Class game, stroked a masterful 141 not out to hand Guyana Jaguars a huge 195-run lead by stumps on day two of the fifth round matches at the National Stadium, Providence.
Red Force made 158 on the first day. Jaguars closed the second day on 357-6 with Chanderpaul anchoring the home team’s response in typical fashion.
The former West Indies captain has so faced 220 balls and hit 14 fours and a six in his 73rd First-Class hundred. The knock followed his even-hundred against Barbados Pride at same venue last week.
Skipper Leon Johnson provided support with 69, while Raymon Reifer scored 38 and Shimron Hetmyer 31. Wicketkeeper Anthony was accompanying Chanderpaul at stumps on 18. (See scoreboard below)
