One homeless following Berbice fire

Troydell Williamson, the lone occupant of a three bedroom two story wooden and concrete structure is left homeless two days before Christmas following a fire in the early hours of Friday, December 23, 2016).

News Room understands that the fire started from a lamp just after 2:00 hours at the home located at Lot 136 Tucber Park, New Amsterdam.

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Williamson told firefighters that he was in his bed when he heard a loud explosion and upon checking noticed huge flames in the kitchen area.

He immediately rushed out of the building and alerted neighbours who called the fire service.

News Room was told that the house is owned by an overseas based Guyanese woman and is occupied by Williamson.

It is not clear as to the cost of the loss Williamson suffered as a result of the fire but investigations are ongoing.
