It is known to many that Christmas is the time for sharing and spending time with loved ones and it is for this reason that approximately 400 kids along with senior citizens were invited to celebrate Christmas with an overseas based Guyanese family at Fyrish on the Corentyne today (Sunday, December 25, 2016).
News Room understands that each Christmas the children in the community and the elderly usually look forward to this initiative by the family which affords them the opportunity to mingle with other children, eat and plays various games.
Overseas-based Guyanese, Denise Park who is presently in Guyana to pull off the annual event with her husband said “This is something my husband and I have started about eleven years now and we feel good knowing that we are giving back to the village in which we grew up before moving to the United States. Giving back is something that is very close to my husband’s heart and that’s is why I am here with him to pull off this activity once again.”
“Actually we usually give the kids dolls but now we giving them something that they could use to learn educationally so this year we bought tablets for all the kids ages 2 years old to 6 years old and children ages 7 years old to 10 years old we give them books and hygienic materials that they could use on themselves” She added.
After receiving their gifts, the recipients expressed gratitude towards the family for thinking about those who can’t afford to have a fun and exciting Christmas.
