A day that was supposed to be for Clinic at the New Amsterdam Psychiatric Hospital has turned deadly after a man armed with a knife barged into the compound of the facility where his wife works and dealt her several stabs about her body killing her instantly on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
Dead is 29-year-old Yonnette Prince of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
News Room understands that the man is a usual visitor at the facility where his wife works and as such security allowed him into the compound to visit the woman.
According to an eyewitness who asked for her identity to be withheld, at about 8:00hrs, she along with the now dead woman was in an office having a conversation when her husband entered the room demanding to have a conversation with the woman who refused. The eyewitness disclosed that an argument ensued between the two and the suspect pulled out a knife from his pants waist and started stabbing the woman.
“After they start to fight and I see he pull out the knife and stabbing she I was trying to part them but I get scared cause I think he gon stab me too so I started hollering” she added.
This news outlet was told that after stabbing his wife, the man escaped leaving the woman motionless on the concrete floor outside the office where she works as a hairdresser for patients at the institution.
The police are yet to arrest the suspect who has since gone into hiding.
