The Guyana Police Force is investigating a robbery which took place at the National Insurance Scheme’s (NIS) Regional Office at Pouderoyen on the West Bank Demerara (W.B.D) this morning.
Police sources have confirmed that six heavily armed gunmen stormed the premises just after 02:00hrs today (Thursday, January 12, 2017).
They reportedly tied up the security guard, demanded keys to several parts of the building and carry out a robbery that lasted for close to one hour.
The News Room has been told that the men torched a safe and carted off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a firearm from the security guard.
The guard is presently in custody as investigations into the matter continue.
