Guyana’s ruggers will be back in action this weekend when the domestic season resumes with Seven’s action at the National Park rugby field.

The match for this weekend, which is being dubbed North versus South, will see some of the best Guyanese players suiting up against each other. Meanwhile, the Seven’s season has been extended until January 21.

Due to the intensive rainy season during the Christmas season, the Guyana Rugby Football Union was forced to halt all scheduled matches as the inclement weather adversely affected the conditions of the pitch, rendering it unsafe for play.

Nevertheless, the Seven’s season will continue with the Guinness tournament, followed by four other one day seven’s tournaments, which are expected to conclude on February 12.

Regionally, Guyana will strive to continue their dominance in Seven’s action as they are scheduled to take on the winner of the group containing Curacao, Martinique and Barbados in April in an away fixture in the Rugby Americas North Sevens tournament. They will then host arch-rivals Trinidad and Tobago in June as well.

Meanwhile, all systems are a go for this weekend’s match with players such as Patrick King, Theo Henry, Ryan Gonsalves and Godfrey Broomes just to name a few set to take the field on Saturday.

Action will get underway at 16:00h.
