His inability to stomach the sight of his wife walking the street with another man has prompted him to set fire to the place they once called home.

Sunildatt Singh, a father of three adult children yesterday reportedly set fire to his Strathspey East Coast Demerara home.

Persons in the area said the man previously told them about his decision after he continues to see his wife in the company of another man.

Residents of the community indicated that the woman walked out of his life some six months ago and is now living with another man, just a few houses away along the same street in the same village.

Singh reportedly went to the shop and purchased kerosene yesterday afternoon, doused the house with the flammable substance and the set it alight.

The News Room was told that residents made repeated calls to the Enmore Fire brigade but after that took a while to arrive, they decided to make contact with the Guyana Fire Service which responded promptly.

No one was injured during the ordeal and no other building was damaged as a result of the fire.

The man is now left without a wife and a house and is presently in the custody of the police at the Vigilance police Station.
