Pregnant Corentyne woman robbed and raped by cross-dresser

A Corentyne Berbice woman is fearful for her life after being attacked, robbed and raped by a lone bandit who was dressed in female attire and armed with a cutlass.

The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the woman’s home located on the Corentyne.

The victim is a 27 year old mother. She has a two year old child and is presently seven months pregnant.

News Room understands that the woman was in her bed with her child when she was awoken by the suspect who was armed with a cutlass and fully dressed in a female outfit with a piece of cloth covering a part of his face.

According to a police source, although the incident occurred at about 23:10 hours on Saturday, a party of police officers visited the scene yesterday morning (Sunday, January 15, 2017) to investigate the matter after receiving a phone call.

News Room was told that at about 18:30 hours the woman secured her home and went to bed and about 23:10 hours she was awoken by the suspect who at the time had a cutlass to her neck. He asked her not to scream and he proceeded to remove the woman’s underwear and started having sexual intercourse with her against her will for approximately ten minutes.

Additionally, the News Room was told that when the suspect completed the act he then made good his escape but took several items from the victim’s home along with him. The man who was still dressed in a female outfit removed a bicycle, Cellular phone and $20,000 cash from the woman’s home.

Following the incident, the police in Berbice have arrested a 21-year-old labourer from the area and he is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
