A former member of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) who is now employed by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has been arrested and his weapon seized after he fired three shots in the direction of an East Ruimveldt man.

The News Room was informed that the shooting stemmed from a relationship that the ex-policeman’s daughter was having with the victim.

From all indications, the ex-policeman became annoyed because he was not aware of the man’s relationship with his 20-year-old daughter.

According to police sources, after finding out about the relationship and several conversations on the phone, the ex-policeman left his job and travelled to the home of his daughter’s boyfriend.

The victim after opening his door and observing the suspect with the gun, decided to make a dash but the ex-policeman discharged three rounds behind him, all of which mysteriously missed the target.

The matter was reported to the police and they responded promptly and took the man into custody.

Meanwhile, in the flipside of the investigations, police sources have confirmed that the victim is in-fact wanted by the police for the shooting in that Rio Nightclub last year which claimed the life of another young man.

The man was being sought after by the police in ‘A’ Division when the investigations into the Rio Nightclub shooting commenced but has managed to evade the police.

The investigations are ongoing.
