Badminton players are currently in preparation mode for the start of the new season, which is set to serve off in February. According to information coming out of the Guyana Badminton Association, the season will get cracking with the GUMDAC Open Doubles tournament, billed for February 1 and 3.
Games will be held at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, with action happening between 18:00h and 21:00h on both days. The tournament, which will see rivalry in the Men’s, Ladies and Mixed Doubles, is the first in a series of competitions on the Guyana Badminton Association’s calendar for 2017.
The deadline for the submission of entries is January 30. In 2016, Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathon Mangra combined to win the Men’s Doubles, while Priyanna Ramdhani and Siya Persaud joined forces to win the Ladies Doubles. There was no Mixed Doubles segment last year.
