One arrested, another on the run after gun find

One man is in custody while another is on the run after they were found with a .32 pistol and a few rounds on Tuesday night.

The men who were at the time on a bicycle were observed acting suspiciously on Mandela Avenue in the vicinity of Rasville by patrolling ranks. News Room was told that as the police approached them, one of the young men jumped off of the bicycle and ran away while the other was, not so lucky.

He was searched by the police who discovered that he was carrying a .32 pistol with a small amount of rounds, none of which he has a license to carry.

He was promptly taken into custody and questioned by the police about his accomplice. The young man told the police that he lives in Albouystown and that the other young man who ran away is his friend.

The police are currently questioning the young man in relation to their intended destination prior to being captured.

The incident occurred at approximately 21.30hrs.

Investigations are ongoing.
