The Police in ‘E’ Division earlier today (Saturday, January 21, 2017) arrested a man who is accused of dressing as a female and attacking the mother of his child, dousing her with a corrosive substance suspected to be acid earlier this week.

The incident reportedly took place on Thursday January 19, 2017.

34 year, Alfred De Young of Linden was arrested by officers from the Mackenzie Police Station at about 08:00 hours after evading police for almost three days for a crime he allegedly committed in Berbice.

On Thursday last, 26 year old, Shondell Williamson told police that she had returned home at New Street New Amsterdam and as she was entering the yard she heard someone walking behind her.

News Room was told, when the woman turned around she saw her child father De Young dressed in all black with a wig on his head and in his hand he had a bowl which was said to contain the substance that he threw on her. The substance made contact with the woman’s face, neck, chest and back which later started to burn.

According to information received, after committing the act, the man fled the scene while the woman was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where she was admitted.

News Room understands, the suspect was very abusive towards his child mother which is why she ended their relationship and she moved back to Berbice.

    Investigations are ongoing.
