Police hunting three after dumping gun and ammunition in bush


Three men are on the run after dumping a gun and ammunition in a clump of bushes at Dispensary Dam, Ankerville, Port Mourant, Berbice earlier today (Monday 23, 2017).

News Room understands the police in ‘B’ Division are presently combing the area to apprehend the men who dropped an unlicensed .25 pistol with three matching rounds.

According to the police, at about 00:30 hours, a group of police officers were conducting patrol duties on the Corentyne when they observed three men dressed in dark clothing acting in a suspicious manner.

News Room was told that as a result, they tried to make contact with the men who began to run but the police gave chase and the men managed to evade the officers.

During the chase, the police observed one of the men throwing several objects in a clump of bushes which were retrieved and discovered to be a .25 raven pistol with a magazine containing three matching rounds.

Investigations are ongoing.
