Body of Buxton pensioner fished from Pomeroon River

The body of a 63-year-old fisherman was this morning (Wednesday 25, 2017) fished out of the Pomeroon River.

Colin Nickelson, 63 years old of Buxton, East Coast Demerara reportedly fell out of a boat on Monday (January 23, 2017) evening.

The News Room has been informed that Nickelson and others were on the boat working on Monday night when they heard a noise and upon checking, they realised that the 63-year-old man was nowhere to be found but the ripples in the water gave the impression that someone or something had fallen over board.

A report was made to the police the same night at approximately 21:18hrs. However, searches on Tuesday came up empty. The man’s remains was found at approximately 05:30hrs.

Sources who spoke with the News Room communicated that the police have since taken statements from a 32-year-old man from the West Coast Demerara who was working on the boat at the time and who also reported the matter to the police along with the others. occupants of the boat., the other persons were also required to give statements in the matter.

When police examined the body this morning, it was found that the man’s hands and parts of his face were badly eaten by what is suspected to be fishes.
