    Following the circulation of a story published by the News Room on facebook yesterday evening (January 28, 2017) of two missing teens, the girls made contact with their relatives.

    News Room was told that around 18:30hrs an aunt of one of the teens received a phone call from the girl requesting that they be picked up at a house at High Bridge in New Amsterdam. A visit to the located found the two 15-year-olds who never returned home after school on Thursday, January 26, 2017, standing on the road shoulders.

    Rachel Clifford of Fort Ordinance, East Canje, Berbice and Kumarie Devi Ramroop of Gangaram, East Canje, Berbice were reported missing after they left the Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) on Thursday to attend a lesson but never turned up at the lesson or returned home.

    According to a police source, both girls were picked up and taken to the Central Police Station for questioning and were later sent to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for medical examinations.

    The Police in Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the actions taken by two teenage school girls.

    On Tuesday, it was also disclosed that the teens skipped school, however, they returned home at the end of the day.

    One male was arrested after they went missing but has denied having played a role in the disappearance.

    More details will be provided as it become available.

    Police investigations are ongoing into the matter.
