The police are working to identify a man who killed last night after he was struck down by a minibus along the inner Bagotville Public Road.

The News Room has been informed that minibus BKK 9004 was heading west along the said road while the unidentified pedal cyclist was heading in the opposite direction.

Police sources indicated that the bus driver attempted to overtake a parked vehicle when he ended up in the cyclist lane and struck him.

The impact sent the man flipping on the ground a short distance away before he was picked up and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital.

A decision was then taken by doctors there, after stabilising him, to transfer him to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The cycle has been lodged at the police station on the West Bank Demerara while the driver of the minibus, Mark Henry of Parfaite Harmonie has been taken into custody.

The police investigations are ongoing.
