BREAKING NEWS: Suspect in baby burning death caught

A 21-year-old man is presently in police custody after he was nabbed by the ranks in the police ‘F’ following information they received.

In custody is the man who the police have been looking for in connection with the burning to death of eight-month-old Romaine Skeete of Kaneville Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara. This was two weeks ago.

According to police sources, the 21-year-old of 4th Field Lot 906 Kaneville was arrested in Mahdia, Region Eight.

The News Room was told that the man was captured at Nine Miles and based on the intelligence the police received; he was attempting to flee into the backdam to evade the police who were hunting him since the death of the baby.

On the morning in question, the baby and her family were asleep when they woke up to fire all around them.

The older persons in the family raced to safety forgetting the baby behind. The police expressed an interest in the man after the grandmother of the child informed the police that the village was attracting suspicious characters and that these characters were carrying arms and ammunition, something the police were able to confirm when they conducted searches in various parts of the community.
