The Police in ‘B’ Division have arrested a cane cutter following the discovery of a quantity of marijuana at his home along with two marijuana plants which were being cultivated in his kitchen.

24-year-old Richard Jeffrey of #78 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, was arrested at his home on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 01, 2017.

News Room understands that it was following a tip-off that a party of police officers went to the suspect’s home to conduct a search. It was during the search that ranks found a black plastic parcel in the kitchen area which was opened in front of the suspect and contained leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana.

According to a police source, a further search was carried out in the kitchen and the officers found two one-gallon water bottles which were being used as plant pots containing fresh soil and marijuana plants.

The News Room was informed that Jeffrey was told of the offense committed, arrested and taken to the Springlands police station where the items were weighed in his presence and amounted to 35 grams.

Jeffrey is presently in police custody pending charges.
