Mahaica Determinators were led by a determined Delroy Dean, who led a massive second half comeback that blew away Riddim Squad on Sunday evening in the Limacol football tournament. Mahaica Determinators scored three goals in 21 minutes to pull off the come-from-behind victory to top Riddim Squad 3-1.

Riddim Squad opened the scoring in the fifth minute of the match at the Victoria Community Centre ground, East Coast Demerara, with a solid strike from Rolex Scott. After the 1-0 first half, Riddim Squad seemed on their way to a win when Dean levelled the score in the 69th minute, much to the approval of the crowd.

Dean’s goal was obviously the spark Mahaica needed and in their hunt for the game winner he struck again in the 88th minutes, followed by a 90th minute goal to take the wind out of the sails of Riddim Squad, who simply could not come out of first gear. Dean has now registered the first hat-trick of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Ann’s Grove edged Pouderoyen in a nail-biter. Ann’s Grove came out with an attacking intent and was rewarded early with a goal by Maxton Adams in the seventh minute of the match.

However, the game would enter the half time break knotted one-all after a brilliant strike from Pouderoyen’s Quessey Alleyne in the 35th minute. While the second half conjured a few attacking build ups here and there both squads had trouble keeping possession of the ball.

With a draw seeming the likely outcome, Ryan Sears rocked the back of the net on the stroke of full time to deliver the game winner for Ann’s Grove. The tournament will continue during the course of the week at various grounds across Guyana.
