    A man is now dead after a vehicle which was being driven by a 21 year old drove over his head at Adventure, Essequibo.

    The dead man who is also of Adventure, has been identified as 56 year Ashok Dass.

    According to the details reaching the News Room, the man was lying along the roadway at approximately 19:20hrs when the incident occurred.

    The police were informed by the driver that he was about to negotiate a turn to enter the street through which he lives and in the process of doing so, he felt the vehicle roll over something. The young man said he came out of the vehicle to investigate and observed that there was a man lying on the roadway and bleeding from his mouth.

    He raised an alarm and person rushed to the scene to assist him in placing the injured man into the vehicle before transporting him to the Suddie Hospital. There the man was pronounced him dead on arrival.

    The police are not sure at this point if the deceased was under the influence which caused him to lay on the roadway but that would be determined when the investigation progress.

    In the meantime the young driver has been detained and the vehicle which belongs to his mother has been lodged with the police.

    This is the second reported fatal accident on the Essequibo Public road for this week as News Room previously reported that on Sunday evening, a 17 year old was also killed.

    The stats of the police are however indicating that the number of road fatalities is still below the figure for the same period of last year.
