Two New Amsterdam youths arrested with 509 grams of marijuana
Two young men from New Amsterdam are in police custody pending charges in relation to a quantity of marijuana discovered on the #4 Public Road on Tuesday, February 07, 2017.
News Room understands that the discovery was made by police on mobile patrol who saw motor PVV 8155 stopped and discard a bag some 200ft away, in a clump of bushes after noticing the patrol.
One of the officers then proceeded to the location and picked up and examined the bag in the presence of the driver of the car, 22-year-old Troyden Trellis and passenger, 22-year-old Shaquille Durant of New Amsterdam. It was found to have a bulky parcel wrapped with transparent plastic containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be marijuana.
As such, the men were taken into custody.
News Room was informed that the men were told of the offence committed then cautioned and taken to the Fort Wellington Police Station where the items were weighed in their presence and amounted to 509 grams.
Both men were placed into custody pending charges.
