Detectives in Berbice have arrested six persons in connection with the robbery and murder of phone card vendor,35-year-old Danian Anthony Jagdeo.

Jagdeo was shot and killed by a lone gunman during a robbery at Adventure on the Corentyne Coast yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, February 07, 2017). In the process, a number of telephone cards and cash were taken from the victim who was making his weekly drop-off at a shop at Adventure.

This led to the Police launching a relentless search and arresting six persons. The motorcycle used to transport the gunman was also recovered since it was left abandoned at Friendship Village, Corentyne.

The detectives working on the case are convinced that apart from the lone gunman who attacked the father of four, there were other players involved. It is also suspected that the perpetrators might be known to the man and might have even been tracking his movement over a period of time.

Ranks from the Guyana Police Force major Crimes Unit will be heading to Berbice today to take charge of the investigation.
