IPL deals for Darren Bravo, Pooran and Powell

Batsman Darren Bravo, all-rounder Rovman Powell and wicket-keeper/batsman Nicholas Pooran are the new West Indians in this year’s Vivo Indian Premier League. 

The trio was brought at the auction on Monday. Bravo, the left-handed middle-order batsman, and Powell, the dynamic Jamaican all-rounder, will turn out for Kolkata Knight Riders, while Pooran, the 21-year-old Trinidad and Tobago player, has been snapped up by Mumbai Indians.

The West Indians retained are Chris Gayle and Samuel Badree (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders), Carlos Brathwaite (Delhi Daredevils), Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons (Mumbai Indians), and Dwayne Bravo and Dwayne Smith (Gujarat Lions).

Darren Sammy has been brought by Kings XI Punjab, while Andre Russell, who is currently serving a one year ban, has been listed as a retained player for Kolkata Knight Riders.

The West Indies players who went unsold were Andre Fletcher, Johnson Charles, Marlon Samuels, Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Shane Dowrich and Ronsford Beaton. IPL 2017 will start on April 5 with defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad playing Royal Challengers Bangalore.
