JUST IN: Brother of Police Commissioner murdered

Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud moments ago confirmed to the News Room that a man murdered at the Stabroek Market approximately one week ago, has been identified as his brother.

Earlier today, the Guyana Police Force issued a press release asking the members of the public to assist them identifying a man who was murdered on February 19, 2017, at Stabroek Market during an altercation.

This evening Seelall Persaud who is presently on leave told the News Room that his brother’s name is Hemant Persaud and that he resided on the Essequibo Coast.

Commander of ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken said that the man was stabbed during an altercation with another person.

However, no arrests have been made since but the police are investigating the matter.
