Viewing matches in the Stag Elite League just got better, with Automobile Power Products, the distributor of the Jialing line, offering a spanking new motor-cycle to one lucky patron. During a simple ceremony on Thursday, officials of the company and the Guyana Football Federation spoke of their partnership ahead of the resumption of the League.
After the conclusion of the first half of the tournament in December, the top four teams will clash in what is dubbed a League Leaders Knockout tournament, set to commence this weekend at the Tucville ground in Georgetown.
Points leaders Guyana Defence Force will face runner-up Fruta Conquerors in the feature match, while third place Victoria Kings will come up against fourth place Buxton United in an all-East Coast Demerara showdown in the opening game.
The winners will meet in the final on March 12, before which the losers will clash in the third place playoff. The second half of the League proper will kick off on March 19, and it is during this period that spectators will become eligible to enter the Patron Prize promotion.
Automobile Power Products will be putting up a brand new Jialing 250cc motor-cycle, popularly known as the GY-5 bike. Marketing Manager Romel Richmond explained that the motor cycle is superbly built with inverted shocks, and several other outstanding features.
“What I can tell you is that this powerhouse was superbly built with inverted shocks which offer that support and proper stabilisation, and aluminium rims, which make the bike altogether a quality product. Additionally, with its 250cc engine, that lucky winner will be sure of getting to his or her destination on time,” Richmond stated.
Richmond said the company saw it fit to collaborate with the Guyana Football Federation in fostering youth development. He added that Jialing is confident that through its alliance the Guyana Football Federation will receive the necessary support that would further strengthen local football.
He further stated that patrons become eligible to enter the competition by submitting their half-ticket stubs in a box located at the match venues. Persons must be 18 years and older to be eligible to claim the prize and the winner must be present at the venue on the night of the drawing to receive same.
Players and employees of Automobile Power Products are not eligible to enter the competition. As part of the Patron Prize, Jialing will cover the cost for registration, fitness, road licence, number plate and helmet, as well as the first servicing of the bike.
