Armed gang invades Chinese Restaurant

A gang of eight men this morning invaded the Ocean Chinese Restaurant located at Goed Fortuin on the West Bank of Demerara.

The News Room learnt that the incident took place at approximately 03:00hrs while the owner and his workers were asleep. No one was reportedly injured.

According to the details emerging from police sources, the men who invaded were armed with knives, cutlasses, crowbars and what appeared to be a gun. The police are of the view that the gun may have been a toy gun.

A worker at the Restaurant was awoken by a noise and upon investigating he was confronted by the gang. They immediately took away his mobile phone, guided him back into the building and proceeded to demand cash and other valuables.

The owner of the premises, 44 -year -old Suean was tied up as the men ransacked the premises and took away two cell phones, one laptop and a bottle of Hennessy.

The men then fled by foot into the backlands. The police from the division are said to be combing the area for the men.
