Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo summoned by SOCU for questioning


Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo was a short while ago arrested at his office on Church Street by Head of the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU), Sydney James.

A video was posted minutes ago to the Peoples’ Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) facebook page, showing Jagdeo being escorted to SOCU’s Office on Camp Street.

Earlier today (Tuesday, February 07, 2017), former Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon was arrested for the misappropriation of funds and conspiracy, in relation to the Pradoville 2 probe.

“I don’t need to again repeat my total innocence and unawareness of the basis for this charge to be arrested,” Dr. Luncheon said as he was being escorted out of the Opposition Leader’s Office.

He added that the party’s members are fully supportive and cooperating with the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU) in relation to the investigation.

According to reports, the daughter of former President, Lisaveta Ramotar was also called in for questioning.

It was noted beforehand, that the members of the opposition are needed for questioning to which they communicated that they will be available at the Opposition Leader’s Office.
