As if the items were his, a man who broke into the home of a Meten-meer-zorg woman decided to call a taxi to pick him up after the robbery.

He loaded the items into the car, then joined the taxi and went about his business.

The incident occurred at approximately 03:00 hours this morning (Thursday, March 09, 2017).

The car was later stopped by police who were patrolling the area at the time, however, having no suspicion of what had transpired, they did not carry out a search. It was only after the officers ventured deeper into the community and a victim related that her home was broken into and she described the vehicle that the suspect was in, the vehicle was pursued.

The police quickly went in search of the car they had earlier passed and carried out a search. The stolen items were discovered in the trunk of the car and later identified by the woman.

Among the items taken from the woman’s home were a music set and other household items.

Additionally, a businesswoman, Sumintra Deonarine who also lives in the village complained that her entire shop was emptied by bandits earlier this week.

The woman said that she is not sure how she will be able to restock her shop which she has been operating the shop for some 13 years.

The police have since taken others into custody. They are looking for additional suspects who they believe might be part of the gang engaged in serial robberies. When the men break into people’s houses, they would usually sell the household items as some of the businesswoman’s items were discovered in the home of someone else who informed the police that he purchased them from one of the suspects in custody.
