Despite reports of the suspension of the Parking Meter Project, the contracted company Smart City Solutions in a press release today said it has not received any instruction or official word in respect to taking any action to suspend the geoPark project from the Mayor and City Council.
Smart City Solutions has confirmed that it will continue to operate and enforce the geoPark project in accordance with its obligations under the Georgetown Metered Parking Project contract.
Media reports surfaced last evening that cabinet has recommended the suspension of the controversial project and called for further consultations and a review of the contract and system.
News Room reached out to Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan, who last evening said he could neither confirm nor deny the reports.
Since its implementation, the Parking Meter Project has been a hot topic with hundreds of Guyanese protesting weekly calling for the immediate halt to the project.
