Pakistan cruised to a six-wicket win over West Indies to take a 1-0 lead in their four-match T20 series, which started on Sunday in Barbados.

Chasing a below-par 112, Pakistan completed the job in 17.1 overs, reaching 115-4, with Shoaib Malik hitting 38 not out (29 balls; 3x4s, 1×6). Babar Azam made a 30-ball 29, while opener Kamran Akmal hit a brisk 22 off 17. Jason Holder finished with 2-27.

Earlier, debutant Shadab Khan claimed three wickets to stifle West Indies. The 18-year-old leg-spinner grabbed 3-7 from four overs as the world champions never got going against some accurate bowling from the visitors, being limited to 111-8. Skipper Carlos Brathwaite topscored with 34 (27 balls; 2x4s, 2x6s). Chadwick Walton made a run-a-ball 18, while Kieron Pollard and Jason Holder scored 14 apiece. West Indies innings included 64 dot balls.
