Group Three driver Motilall ‘Kevin’ Deodass will be gunning for more success on Sunday (April 2) when the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club’s National Race of Champions is held at the South Dakota Circuit. Deodass, who will be behind the wheel of his Starlet, said given the fact the car “ran perfect” at the last race meet in November, just minor tweaking is currently being done.

“It’s the same original 4E engine with upgraded turbo; and we’re running the E85 ethanol,” Deodass said of his machine. “Well I didn’t have to do much in terms of preparation because in November the car ran perfect, so we didn’t really have much to do.”

Deodass, who is also the Beharry Starlet Cup champion, said he is looking forward to another successful day of racing in his red and black Starlet, bearing number 56. He identified a few competitors whom he would be keeping a close eye on.

“There are a few drivers like Adrian (Fernandes) and Rameez (Mohamed) for the Starlet Cup, and for Group Three there is Danny (Persaud)…nobody else I think I should worry about,” Deodass confidently related.

Deodass is sponsored by Motor Trend Auto Sales, Spares and Repairs, Rohan Auto Spares, R. Kissoon Contracting Services and Esther and Associates.

Meanwhile, the National Race of Champions is expected to attract a large group of drivers and riders, while spectator turnout is also expected to be massive. The day’s activities, set to get underway at 09:00h, will be coordinated by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club in partnership with a number of sponsors.

They include Stag Beer, Exxon Mobil, Fly Jamaica, Seaboard Marine, Palm Court, Rohit Lumber Yard, Rohan Auto Sales, B.M Soat Auto Spares, Special Auto, National Hardware, Tony’s Auto Spares, Japarts, Carnival Casino, Caricom Auto Sales, S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies, Jialing, Choke Gas Station, E-Networks, Truck Masters and Prem’s Electrical.

Admission to the venue is $1,000 for adults and $500 for children under 12.
