Man narrowly escapes death after fleeing armed bandit

An Indian National who was on his way home along with his friends, was shot and hospitalised during an attempted robbery at about 23:50hrs on Tuesday (March 28, 2017) at First Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara.

Investigations have so far revealed that Brianard Revival was in the company of some friends, in his motor car, when he was intercepted by another motorcar at a junction.

A male suspect, brandishing a handgun exited the back seat of the car, approached and demanded cash and valuables.

The 28-year-old foreign student who resided at Second Street, Cummings Lodge, immediately sped away during which the suspect discharged his firearm, injuring him in the upper left arm.

He was taken to a Private Institution where he underwent surgery and is presently in a stable condition.

The police are yet to make an arrest.
