Bar owner shot by security guard

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting of A 20-year-old businessman of 37 Adventure, Essequibo Coast, which occurred about 01:00hrs on Thursday (March 30, 2017).

Wilfred Tennyson was shot by a Supernumerary Constable attached to a Security Service.

Investigations so far have revealed that the Constable, who was armed with a handgun belonging to the Security Firm he works with, left his place of duty and ventured into the Tennyson’s shop (License Liquor Restaurant) where they engaged in playing pools; the suspect was said to be imbibing during the game.

Later an argument erupted after the Tennyson won a game and the suspect allegedly whipped out his firearm and shot the 20-year-old to his right side abdomen. The man was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he is being treated. His condition is regarded as stable.

The suspect who is 32 years and hails from Adventure, Essequibo Coast has since been taken into custody and the firearm lodged.
