West Indies vs Pakistan to highlight weekend’s action

It’s a great weekend for sport in Guyana as international cricket featuring West Indies and Pakistan will take centre stage on Sunday at the National Stadium, Providence.

The weekend is packed with sports and tonight (Friday) the action starts off with the adrenaline rush of go-kart racing when GT Motorsports hosts the Georgetown Grand Prix at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club.

The big race of the evening will be the Shifter Kart category with big names likes Kristian Jeffrey, Darryl Timmers, Matthew Phang, Carlos Rodrigues and Elliot Vieira all locked and loaded for the event tonight.

It will definitely be race of the ages for motor racing fans in Guyana. Shifting to Saturday, action will go down on the basketball court with the continuation of the National School Basketball Festival’s Regional Conferences.

Action is set to tip off from 16:00h on both Saturday and Sunday with some of the best Georgetown schools ready to clash at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Saturday will also see the semi-final of the Petra Futsal competition that is one of the hottest tournaments in the country at the moment. Defending champions, Bent Street, is just one of the remaining teams left in the tournament along with popular street football team, Sparta Boss.

A massive and exciting night of futsal action is expected from 20:00h at the National Gymnasium. Meanwhile, West Indies versus Pakistan, ODI number two will highlight the weekend’s action at the National Stadium, Providence.

Cricket fans will be thrilled by the maroon boys, who are looking for a series win to help their chances of automatically qualifying for the next Cricket World Cup. Action at the National Stadium is set to bowl off at 09:30h. Sunday will also play host to the final of the Milo School Football tournament.

Defending Champions Chase Academy will go for their third straight title, but will have to get past Morgan Learning Centre in order to do so.

Both teams look poised to produce a great final and the action is set for a 17:00h start at the Ministry of Education ground.
