A new board has been appointed to the state-owned National Communications Network, headed by veteran journalist and Communications Expert Enrico Woolford.

Other members of the new board include Head of the Government Information Agency Beverly Alert, Journalist Gordon Moseley, Broadcaster Margaret Lawrence, Michael Leonard, kamal Persaud and Dane Gobin.

Minister of State Joseph Harmon, who made the announcement today (April 27, 2017) said the expectation is that the board would address policies and ensure that the entity operates as one that provides information that is timely and accurate to the Guyanese public.

As it relates to political interference, Harmon said he trusts that the Board would be guided by the fact that the APNU+AFC Coalition Administration is about inclusiveness. He reminded that NCN caters to a wide-cross section and should provide what the public “needs to know.”

The life of the board runs from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018.
