One dead, three injured in Mahaicony accident

A 41-year-old man of 54 Bagots Street, Rosignol West Coast Berbice (WCB) died at the Georgetown Public Hospital last evening, (Thursday, May 04, 2017), as a result of injuries sustained in an accident earlier in the day.

According to police information, the man, Terrence Mc Donald, was the driver of motorcar IHC 6644 which collided with motor lorry GPP 3715 on the Dantzig Public Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara at about 12:35hrs.

Enquiries disclosed that the car was Proceeding west along the southern driveway with four occupants, allegedly at a fast rate, on a wet surface when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with the front left side of the lorry. The Motor lorry was stationary on the southern side of the road.

The occupants and the driver were rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital by public spirited citizens.

However, one of the occupants who has been identified as Saulita Malikish, along with the driver were later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and admitted in the ICU.

The Driver succumbed at about 18:00hrs.

The other occupants whose names are yet to be ascertained were said to have been treated at the Mahaicony Hospital and sent away.

Investigations are in progress.
