A 21-year-old this morning (Saturday, May 06, 2017) literally gave the police in ‘F’ Division ‘a run for their money’ after he was found to be in the possession of over 500 grams of marijuana.

The News Room has been informed that the young man identified as Sean Smith was busted with the substance even as he was at the time a prime suspect in a simple larceny probe.

According to sources in ‘F’ Division, the young man was being sought by the police after they received information that he committed an act of simple larceny on a resident of the area.

Smith who was described by police sources as a miner from the Puruni Landing was approached by ranks on Saturday morning and a search was carried out on his person, before the ranks attempted to effect an arrest in relation to the simple larceny investigation.

It was during that search that the ranks who are operating out of the Itaballi Check Point discovered the marijuana concealed in a bag the 21-year-old was carrying.

As they attempted to arrest him, he ran away forcing them to give chase.

The police are making moves to have the man appear in court this coming week where he will be charged for both offences.
