Thirty six year old, Orson Gishard of Wismar, Linden was killed by suspected drowning between Saturday and earlier today (Sunday, May 7, 2017) after being involved in a boat mishap in the Mazaruni River yesterday.
The News Room has been informed that the man along with three others were making their way to a destination News Room is yet to confirm, when the boat they were travelling in encountered rough water and capsized.
The other occupants managed to make it to safety.
Police sources are contending that the man may have hit his head during the ordeal and possibly lost consciousness.
Gishard’s body was recovered earlier today.
The Lindener’s death comes one day after another boat capsized in the Upper Cuyuni River on Friday last. Fortunately, there were no causalities, as all passengers managed to make it back into the boat after the crew regained control of the vessel and placed the hull back into the water.
Both incidents are being investigated by the police in ‘F’ Division.
