Miner chops colleague to death, steals gold mat

Damon Scipio, age 56 was murdered sometime between last night (Friday, May 12, 2017) and this morning (Saturday, May 13, 2017), by his co-worker, a 26-year-old male of Amerindian descent, whose name was given only as “Buck”.
The incident took place at BK Old Road, Potaro River, where the two are employed by Gilvani Santos as miners on a land dredge.
Information received suggests that sometime between late Friday night and early Saturday morning, Damon Scipio of Moco Moco Village, Rupununi went to his camp to look over a sluice box when he was reportedly attacked by “Buck”
Detectives were told that during that confrontation, “Buck” attacked the deceased with a cutlass and dealt him several shops to the head and arm, before picking up a gold mat and fleeing the area.
It was on Saturday morning that the body of the 56-year-old was discovered in a pool of blood.
The suspect has since gone into hiding.
