Guyana’s Calvin Ming was not without troubles on Saturday as he competed in race two of the USF2000 at the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
The F4 driver finished in P18, but damaged his rear wing in turn one in the first lap, causing him to pit for it to be replaced. After rejoining the race, the Guyanese found himself in another accident on turn one. However, he did manage to recover and finish the race, according to reports.
On his Facebook page, Ming said, “Rough day at Indy. Started race 2 in P8 and managed to make up a few place on the start. However, due to contact in turn 2, I had to pit on the first lap to fix rear wing damage which put me a lap down in the race. In the end finished P18. Still I was able to pick up my first podium of the season and look forward to getting more with the @pabstracing team.”
Ming had finished in P3 in race one on Friday, becoming the first Guyanese on the podium in IndyCar. Ming will now return to Mexico to compete in round seven of the Mexican FIA Formula 4 championship series races next Thursday.
