Hit and run driver leaves evidence behind as victim clings to life

A so far unidentified man was last evening (Tuesday, May 16, 2017), struck by a car on the Soesdyke Linden Highway.

Broken registration plate left behind during accident

Parts of a registration plate from a vehicle which struck the was left behind, which the police are using to conduct their investigations.

The News Room was told that sometime between 19:00-19:30 hrs on Tuesday evening, a male who is yet to be identified was walking along the linden highway when he struck by the car which was reportedly speeding at the time. We were told that the accident took place in the vicinity of Yarrowkabra.

According to materials seen by the News Room, the registration plate appears to carry the numbers 703.

Based on the evidence at the scene, the there is no skid marks to suggest that the driver of the vehicle stopped to render any form of assistance following the accident.

The injured man who is said to me of a mixed descent was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Diamond Hospital before he was stabilised and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
