Police Constable dies following accident

Police Constable 22155, Khrystama Yasin of the Whim Police Station died while receiving medical attention for injuries he sustained in an accident last night (Thursday, May 18, 2017).

23 year old Yasin died after 05:00 hours this morning (Friday, May 20, 2017) at the New Amsterdam Public hospital.

According to information reaching the News Room, the police constable was riding his motorcycle CG 7801 along the Borlam public road in Berbice, when he reportedly collided with Yolanda Collins.

Yolanda Collins, 27 years old, we were told; is a resident of Dazzle Housing Scheme on the East Coast Demerara but at the time of the accident, she was a patient at the Psychiatric Hospital located in New Amsterdam. She was reportedly pushing a pedal cycle which was allegedly stolen, across the road when the policeman collided with her.

Both of the individuals were picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where Constable Yasin eventually succumbed while being prepared to be transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Collins was also admitted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital in a stable condition. She was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she is being treated for a fractured left leg and arm.

Yasin joined the Guyana Police Force in 2014
