Investigations are ongoing into an accident which occurred on the Supply public road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, May 24, 2017), causing injuries to two teens.
According to information received, at about 17:30 hours on Wednesday (May 24, 2017), motor cycle CH 9730 (Rider name and address unknown) was proceeding south along the eastern side of public road at a fast rate, when the rider lost control and collided with the pedestrian who was walking south along the eastern side of the said road.
The pedestrian was identified as 13 year old Devon Scott of Supply, E.B.D.
The motorcycle was also carrying a pillion rider identified as 18-year-old Keisha Anthony of lot 63, North Timehri, E.B.D.
It is alleged that both the cyclist and the pillion rider were without helmets at the time of the accident.
As a result of the collision, Anthony fell onto the road and received injuries about her face and body, while the pedestrian who is a student of the Diamond Primary school received injuries to his left ankle and lacerations about his body.
Information received stated that the motorcyclist escaped the scene.
The victims were picked up by public spirited citizens and placed in a passing vehicle and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic center. They were both treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where further examinations were carried out.
Scott was admitted to the Pediatric Ward suffering from fracture left ankle and Anthony was admitted to the Female Surgical Ward suffering from head injuries and laceration about her body.
